About a third of they way through the video I realized he is doing what is called an in-frame rebuild. Of course he's not able to do the main bearings because it has a girdle instead of multiple caps. I've only seen this done on big diesel engines like busses and RV's.

IM A TECH ONE!! This is RIDICULOUS you dont buy a used car then spend thosuands of dollars repalcing just about everything on it, as preventive maintenance! The only thing needed replacement was the oil pump and vanos! thats it! and the internal feed line from the pump! There no need for replacing parts that are still good! IF YOU WANTED A NEW CAR JUST GO OUT AND BUY ONE! This is COMPLETE FOOLISHNESS! WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME!

    Maand geleden

Hi M539, may I strongly suggest to renew your crankshaftsensor and camshaftsensors too. They are known to get very hot at high speeds and they start to melt. This makes the car go in a sequential of shutdowns of electrical systems and fault codes. You search and search and search why your dashboard shuts off partially, but in the end it appears to be a short circuit from a melted crankshaft sensor. Imagine after how many hours you find this! Use BMW original for this. Ciao 👍

O, and something else. Use exactly and I mean exactly the right motor oil. Nothing else and with this engine you MUST keep oil at maximum level ALL THE TIME. Low but above minimum causes extreme heat spots everywhere in the engine and it goes kaput.

Hi there my name is spencer Latham I own a company called bmp Conversions in England. We have a Facebook page please search me when you have time. Firstly I would like to say how much I enjoy your videos and love how thoroughly you fix all the cars you work on. Your workmanship is outstanding I specialis in the the BMW e30 m3 in the UK and we approach those cars in the same way and carry out full restoration on them to. I am here contacting you to ask if you would help me. I have found a special BMW part for one of my own builds I'm doing but the owner who lives in nurburg Germany wont post. So I am currently trying to find someone who can help me by collecting it and then packing the item so I can arrange the postage. I am happy to pay all costs including labour to do so. If this is something you can help with or you know someone who can help please contact me on my Facebook page bmp Conversions thanks spencer

Hey bro do you help people out? I'm a struggling father of 3 younger children. I've recently came back from the depths of hell and addiction and have gotten my kids, got my life back together and was doing so good! Then I buy my dream car. A 2006 bmw m5! Take out my first loan and not 4 months later the motor locks up. So ya that messed me up pretty bad. Even worse I lost my job from not being able to get there. So I took everything I had left to buy another car and not 24 hours after buying it, the thing totally falls apart. It was only a 1700 car but still. So now im.totally stuck and lost. I seen how much it makes you happy and excited to help people out so I figured I'd take a shot in the dark. I have my own youtube channel. Isn't nothing special. Made a video reaching out to people. Maybe you could go check it out and share it at the least. If thers anything you could do at all I'd forever be in your debt. Nate plinke @ facebook messenger is the best way to get ahold of me if ya wanted to take the time. Even a message of support would be awesome if anything.

Firstly I love the videos great work👍 I have just replaced my Vanos pump as it was recommended by my garage due to low pressure a idle 10 bar. I kept the pump so I could have a look and can’t find anything wrong with it! The race is good no cracks! The plungers are good no wear signs! And the pump turns smoothly. No scoring in the race or the pump. What else is there to check? No heat discolouration! Vanos line leaks like sieve even though garage told me they checked it and it’s good? Any advice pump obviously not cheap!
